How to Schedule Posts on Meta

The new Meta format may seem confusing, but when it comes to scheduling posts, you will see it's easier than ever to post to Facebook and Instagram.

To start, go to your business page. On the left, you will see your options – click on “publishing tools.” It will default to what you've already published which is great if you want to look at your history. We're going to click on schedule post. Once we're here, we have got the option to schedule a post by clicking down below or clicking “create a post” in the top righthand corner. Both will work just fine.

Once you click, it will default to days and times that it thinks are most popular for you and your viewers. The more you post, the more it becomes familiar with your followers, and the better it gets in targeting good times for your audience. Let's say though you wanted to schedule a post for a holiday. I do caution that you notice how it's blue, you will want to click somewhere outside the box so that nothing's highlighted. Write your post click save now. Let's say at the last minute you're you want to change it. At the bottom, you can re-schedule for another time.

Now we also want to schedule one for Instagram. That's where the two boxes differ – one side is text for both of them this the other is to customize Facebook or Instagram. Remember on Instagram, hashtagging is a good thing. For this example, we’ll show you how to post for both with a little GIF I created earlier.

We add the GIF and I've already got what I'm going to write in the text. (I type slowly so I went ahead and did that in advance.) Now, because Instagram loves hashtags, we will look at some recent hashtags we've used, business help, marketing made easy, custom work, we can do all of that and put it in there as well and it's pretty much all set. I have an idea of what it looks like on Instagram and if I click back on Facebook, I can see what the Facebook post will look like as well. It doesn't actually run the video but it just gives you kind of a snapshot of what it looks like. If it looks good, go ahead and click schedule post.

It's going to take a little bit to come up. Now, let's say I wanted to split them up. Let's say our Instagram audience is more active in the evening. I'm going to change the time for the Instagram post. Our Facebook followers are more active in the morning. I'll leave Facebook as is, and I can reschedule this post by clicking on the time. Then click reschedule. So, now, I've got my morning Facebook post and my evening Instagram post.  Now, you could be in a situation where you decide you want to post right now instead. Simply click on the post now button.

Well, there you go. It's still all as functional as you used to remember it to be. It's just been rearranged. Hope this helps. Contact us if we can help with your social media, graphic design, website, and marketing: fresh@342mad.com
